چکیده

Abstract Background Serum hepatitis B virus RNA (HBV RNA) has been reported to be a surrogate marker of intrahepatic cccDNA during nucleos(t)ide analogs therapy. However, in HBeAg-positive patients treated with peg-interferon (peg-IFN), whether HBV is superior other markers reflecting profile still unclear. Methods RNA, HBcrAg, DNA, and HBsAg were longitudinally assessed among 30 48-week peg-IFN treatment. Besides, was detected at baseline week 48 respectively. Then, the individual correlations between HBsAg, statistically analyzed. Results levels decreased more rapidly HBeAg seroconversion than those without seroconversion. Among all patients, correlated better baseline. After weeks treatment, strongly markers. Further analysis indicated that whereas not correlate DNA HBsAg. While seroconversion, highly moderately Conclusion Compared serum before after The level may Trial registration ClinicalTrials, NCT03546530. Minicircle HBV cccDNA with a Gaussia luciferase reporter for investigating HBV cccDNA biology and developing cccDNA-targeting drugs

Chronic Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) infection is generally not curable with current anti-viral drugs. Virus rebounds after stopping treatment from the stable HBV covalently-closed-circular DNA (cccDNA). The development of drugs that directly target cccDNA is hampered by the lack of robust HBV cccDNA models. We report here a novel HBV cccDNA technology that will meet the need. We engineered a minici...

The Role of cccDNA in HBV Maintenance

Chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection continues to be a major health burden worldwide; it can cause various degrees of liver damage and is strongly associated with the development of liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. The molecular mechanisms determining HBV persistence are not fully understood, but these appear to be multifactorial and the unique replication strategy employed by...

Correction: Analysis of Hepatitis B Virus Intrahepatic Covalently Closed Circular DNA and Serum Viral Markers in Treatment-Naive Patients with Acute and Chronic HBV Infection

BACKGROUND This study aimed to investigate the relationships of intrahepatic cccDNA with serum HBsAg and with HBV DNA in treatment-naive patients throughout acute and chronic HBV infection. METHODS A total of 120 patients who had a liver biopsy were enrolled, including 19 with acute hepatitis B (AHB), and 101 patients with chronic HBV infection (CHB) of whom were 10 in immune-tolerant (IT) ph...

Effects of Entecavir on Hepatitis B Virus Covalently Closed Circular DNA in Hepatitis B e Antigen-Positive Patients with Hepatitis B

The aim of this study was to assess the effect of 48-week entecavir therapy on serum and intrahepatic hepatitis B virus, covalently closed circular DNA (HBV cccDNA) levels in hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg)-positive patients. A total of 120 patients with HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis were treated with entecavir for 48 weeks. Serum HBV markers, total HBV DNA, and HBV cccDNA levels were measured...

Potential Applications of Serum HBsAg Level Measurement in Patients with Hepatitis B and D Co- Infection

Pathogenesis of HDV infection is still insufficiently studied. Such marker of a HBV mono-infection disease activity as HBeAg rarely occurs in HDV co-infected patients. It is known that HDV infection is generally associated with a suppression of HBV replication [2]. In most cases the severity of CHD depends on the level of HDV RNA. A quantification of HDV RNA is done in specialized laboratories ...
